SUMMARY
The District Manager (DM) oversees the overall operation of retail stores within an assigned territory, specifically, managing the territory's financial performance, and managing safety and security within the district. A key priority of this position is to provide optimum customer service and ensure that his/her teams create a customer focused environment through the ?Live ESPRIT? Values. Further, the District Manager is responsible for ensuring each store team meets Company expectations and promotes the brand image while achieving sales and inventory goals. As well, s/he is the key liaison between our store management teams and corporate business partners.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Top-Line Focus
Create and maintain an outstanding customer service experience through the ?Live ESPRIT? Values (have passion, be involved, challenge yourself)
Increase sales and profitability within respective district
Creation of store budget and plans within regional guidelines provided by Head of Retail
Monitoring and management of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) i.e. units per transaction, retail per transaction, etc. and Profit & Loss Statement, by store and region
Ensure a high level of execution of brand and product strategies within the stores
Work with corporate business partners to accomplish objectives, and growth the business and develop staff
Organizing and planning of all store renovations and new store openings, in conjunction with corporate business partners
Inventory
Manages team to adhere to set inventory procedures in order to achieve Shrink targets in accordance with Company objectives
Consistently manages inventory control processes to ensure prevention of asset loss in conjunction with Loss Prevention and Operations
Visual & Merchandising
Ensure all stores are in compliance with visual/merchandising directives and any deviations respect the brand
Ensure all directives are executed within a timely manner without negatively impacting the shopping experience
Communicate any concerns with the product range or missing key looks and provide information on competitors to the Merchandise Managers and retail business leaders
Staffing & Performance Management
Ensure selection and retention of top talent along with strategic vision or long term succession planning
Coach, train and mentor Store Management team on KPI's
Provide strategic direction to store management
Monitor individual results and provides appropriate feedback
Create and maintain a coaching culture and a culture of accountability to the business
Manage employee relations and work environments in conjunction with Store Management and Human Resources
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum four (4) years of multi-store retail sales leadership experience, ideally within the women?s apparel industry
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common visual directives and financial reports
Ability to effectively present information and reports to senior management
Proven inventory management skills
Experience in budgeting and forecasting
Intermediate level skill with MS Office programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent organization, negotiation, presentation & interpersonal skills
Exceptional verbal & written communication skills
Results oriented with strong bias for action and a high level of energy and enthusiasm
Maintain strict confidentiality
Must be a self-starter who works well independently and in team environments
Must have a valid Driver?s License and regular access to personal vehicle
Must be able to travel within assigned territory, occasionally to various locations within Canada, US and Internally
DECISION MAKING
Prioritize projects and job assignments with respect to order of importance and deadlines.
Manage hiring and payroll for each store, in accordance with Company guidelines.
Managing direct reports with authority to recommend personnel action in partnership with the respective Country Head of Human Resources.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
Propose and participate in the preparation and presentation of policy changes.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
Exempt
Full Time, 40+ hours per week
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is largely performed in a variety of stores with freedom of movement and minimal health risks. Traveling to stores will be required daily. Some light lifting may be involved. Concentration is required when composing correspondence, researching and traveling.
